You just want to help.

You see the nerves before a big game. The way they hold back and play safe at times. How a single mistake can follow them around all day.

All you want is for them to love it, and to play like you know they can.

So you help the only way you know how. You encourage. You reassure. You tell them what to work on.

But sometimes the drive home is quiet or tense. And you’ve wondered…

What is the best way to help?

The part you play.

What helps most isn’t something you say. It’s something they feel.

Every child is quietly working out whether they’re enough, and okay when it doesn’t go their way. Even the confident ones.

What they need isn’t more advice. What they’re really after is a feeling:

Nothing in you changes with the result.

It’s what sets them free.
And it starts at home.
With you.

You can’t control how they play.
But you can create the conditions where their best comes out.

The Parent Game

A live online workshop on what really shapes your child’s confidence, resilience and love of the game, and the part you play in it.

Parents leaning in, engaged, at a live PlayFree workshop

What you’ll walk away with

What to say, and what to stop saying

The words that build belief, and the well-meant ones that get in the way.

How to handle the hard moments

What your child actually needs from you when it doesn’t go their way.

What’s really going on when they play tight

How nerves, mistakes and pressure show up in a young athlete’s mind, and where you fit in.

What top players do with their mind

And how to share it with your child.

A mindset framework and tools you’ll actually use

With your child, and on yourself, starting the very next game.

This is not a lecture you half-watch, or a list of tips you forget by the weekend. It’s honest, practical and eye-opening. The kind of conversation that makes you understand your child differently.

The benefits

What starts to change.

You’ll leave knowing exactly what they need from you, and how to give it, in time for the weekend.

They hold back, playing safe Now

They play with belief

Closer to what they’re really capable of.

One mistake hangs over the day Now

Setbacks stop sticking

A tough game clears by Monday, instead of lingering.

Your nerves leak onto them Now

You become the calm

Your support lands as presence, not pressure.

The drive home goes tense and quiet Now

The car rides change

Less tension. More of the connection you want.

Who you’ll learn from

Meet Nick.

Nick Marr, founder of PlayFree, hand on heart at a workshop

I’m Nick, founder of PlayFree. I’ve spent thirteen years working inside sport, at every level, and far longer playing it.

I know what sport can give a child: joy, belonging, growth. And I know the other side, fear, pressure, the sense that how you play means more than it should.

I started out coaching more kids than I can count. Then I went deeper, into the inner game, and trained in integrative psychotherapy to understand it properly.

Since then I’ve spent my days around thousands of young athletes and their parents. And I kept seeing the same thing: good parents holding on a little too tight, all out of love, and kids who feel it.

Parent stories

A shift in you.
A bigger one in them.

Real parents, weeks after putting it into practice.

Mistakes stopped taking over

I told my daughter her father and I have no expectations of her, that we only care about her enjoying herself. I could tell she was really taking it in. Since then she hasn’t fallen apart after mistakes, and she’s been better than ever!

Connection came back

I tried what you said and stopped giving advice after games. I just let her lead. For a while we didn’t talk about the game at all, but after a few weeks she started asking me what I thought!

His belief came through

We’ve been speaking to our son about your Infinite Game mindset, and we’ve noticed a marked difference in his presence on the field. He’s finally coming to believe in himself. He has a very different game voice now. One you pay attention to.

Good to know

Your questions, answered.

Is this for all sports?
Yes, all of them. It’s applicable to every sport, whether you play on a court, on a field, or in a pool. It’s about your child, and what they feel when they play.
What age and level is this for?
It’s for parents of junior players aged 6 to 18, at every level of sport, local, club, community, representative or elite.
Can both parents attend?
Yes. One registration covers your family, so both parents can join live or watch the replay.
What if I can’t attend live?
You’ll receive the replay. If life gets in the way, you won’t miss it.
Does my child attend?
No. The live workshop is for parents. Your child receives their own mindset guide, so the ideas come home in a way made for them.
Is this about blaming parents?
Not at all. This starts from the assumption that you love your child and want the best for them. It’s not about blame. It’s about seeing the part you play, and making it work for your child, not against them.

Freedom isn’t the opposite of success.
It’s the condition for it.
