Learn what your child really needs from you, and watch them light up on game day.

You see the nerves before a big game. The way they hold back and play safe at times. How a single mistake can follow them around all day.
All you want is for them to love it, and to play like you know they can.
So you help the only way you know how. You encourage. You reassure. You tell them what to work on.
But sometimes the drive home is quiet or tense. And you’ve wondered…
What is the best way to help?
What helps most isn’t something you say. It’s something they feel.
Every child is quietly working out whether they’re enough, and okay when it doesn’t go their way. Even the confident ones.
What they need isn’t more advice. What they’re really after is a feeling:
Nothing in you changes with the result.
It’s what sets them free.
And it starts at home.
With you.
You can’t control how they play.
But you can create the conditions where their best comes out.
A live online workshop on what really shapes your child’s confidence, resilience and love of the game, and the part you play in it.
The words that build belief, and the well-meant ones that get in the way.
What your child actually needs from you when it doesn’t go their way.
How nerves, mistakes and pressure show up in a young athlete’s mind, and where you fit in.
And how to share it with your child.
With your child, and on yourself, starting the very next game.
This is not a lecture you half-watch, or a list of tips you forget by the weekend. It’s honest, practical and eye-opening. The kind of conversation that makes you understand your child differently.
You’ll leave knowing exactly what they need from you, and how to give it, in time for the weekend.
Closer to what they’re really capable of.
A tough game clears by Monday, instead of lingering.
Your support lands as presence, not pressure.
Less tension. More of the connection you want.
“His guidance for parents in supporting their children’s journey is invaluable.” Phil Myall · Player Development Manager, Football NSW
I’m Nick, founder of PlayFree. I’ve spent thirteen years working inside sport, at every level, and far longer playing it.
I know what sport can give a child: joy, belonging, growth. And I know the other side, fear, pressure, the sense that how you play means more than it should.
I started out coaching more kids than I can count. Then I went deeper, into the inner game, and trained in integrative psychotherapy to understand it properly.
Since then I’ve spent my days around thousands of young athletes and their parents. And I kept seeing the same thing: good parents holding on a little too tight, all out of love, and kids who feel it.
That’s what PlayFree is for: helping you understand your child’s inner game, and the part you play in shaping it.
Real parents, weeks after putting it into practice.
I told my daughter her father and I have no expectations of her, that we only care about her enjoying herself. I could tell she was really taking it in. Since then she hasn’t fallen apart after mistakes, and she’s been better than ever!
I tried what you said and stopped giving advice after games. I just let her lead. For a while we didn’t talk about the game at all, but after a few weeks she started asking me what I thought!
We’ve been speaking to our son about your Infinite Game mindset, and we’ve noticed a marked difference in his presence on the field. He’s finally coming to believe in himself. He has a very different game voice now. One you pay attention to.

“More parents need to hear this.”
Nick Marr is a leader in this field. He clearly articulated to parents how to create a framework that encourages positive environments where players can grow and develop.
I was truly impressed and inspired by the parent session. I found it very beneficial for me and my son.
Nick is a fantastic presenter and the session provided good reminders on how to best support our daughter throughout the season. Thank you Nick!
It was a very insightful workshop for me. You gave us a very practical approach to the reality of sport and how we could cope with that.
Thanks Nick, enjoyed how you provided different perspectives to communicate and support our teenagers, and also reinforced what we’re doing right.
I loved Nick’s parent session. You can feel how committed he is to his message.
Freedom isn’t the opposite of success.
It’s the condition for it.
